Poland orders M-346 Advanced Jet Trainers
- January 17, 2018
Poland ordered four additional Leonardo M-346 Advanced Jet Trainer aircraft.
This order includes delivery of four M-346 aircraft until 2020 and an option for four more aircraft to be delivered in 2021/2022. In February 2014, Poland signed a deal worth US$ 342M to receive eight M-346s. The contract includes logistic support; a training programme for pilots and engineers; a state-of-the-art ground-based training system with dedicated classrooms and educational materials, including a Full Mission Simulator, a highly complex device able to replicate any possible operational scenario and also to be networked with real aircraft flying training missions.
The Polish Air Force’s acceptance of the first eight M-346s was delayed because of problems with the aircraft’s Embedded Tactical Training System, the Ministry of National Defence said in 2016.
M-346 is the most advanced trainer aircraft available on the market today and the only one specifically designed to prepare pilots for high performance new generation aircraft. Its Embedded Tactical Training Simulation (ETTS) allows the M-346 to emulate sensors, countermeasures and armament, as well as allowing pilots to interact in real time with a virtual tactical scenario, further enhancing flexibility and cost reduction.
