China receives S-400 missile systems
Russia has begun the delivery of the S-400 Triumf air defense missile systems to China.
The shipment includes a control station, a radar station, energy and support equipment, spare parts, various tools and other elements of the S-400 system. Neither technology transfer nor licensed production was agreed upon in the contract.
Russia trained a group of Chinese military personnel to operate the S-400 system last year.
The S-400 Triumf is designed to destroy aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles, including medium-range ones, and can also be used against ground objectives. The S-400 complex can engage targets at a distance of 400 km and at an altitude of up to 30 km.
