USAF will procure EOD 10 bomb suits

The US Air Force (USAF) and Safariland Group company Med-Eng has awarded a five-year contract to provide its EOD 10 bomb suit for the protection of explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) teams.
The $15m contract was awarded to the company following a competitive solicitation process and could involve a procurement of up to 305 EOD 10 bomb suits during the five-year term.
Med-Eng vice-president, general manager Rob Reynolds said: “Med-Eng is honoured to provide equipment that will help protect the lives of the US Air Force’s EOD teams as they carry out critical, dangerous and life-saving missions.
“Selecting Med-Eng and our EOD 10 suit demonstrates the USAF’s confidence in our ability to meet the evolving threats and operational requirements facing our military EOD operators and public safety bomb technicians in even the harshest conditions.”
The EOD 10 bomb suit and accessories provide multi-threat blast protection and ergonomic flexibility. It features voice activation, integrated cooling and compatibility with chemical and biological protective equipment. The suit has been tested against threat.
This equipment is currently used by military and public safety agencies in 28 countries.s representative of improvised explosive devices.
