Leonardo and Qatar have finalised the €3bn contract for the delivery of 28 multi-role NH90s.

Under the contract, Leonardo acts as a prime contractor for programme management for the NHI consortium.

The order will see 16 NH90 TTHs and 12 NH90 NFHs placed on land and naval operations respectively. Leonardo will assemble and delivery 12 NH90 NFHs at its Venice Tessera facility in Northern Italy. Airbus will be assembling and delivering 16 NH90 TTHs. Deliveries of the aircraft are expected to commence before June 2022 and will continue until 2025.

Alessandro Profumo, Leonardo CEO, stated: “We are proud to have made this important contract effective. We continue to be fully focused on executing our Industrial Plan aimed at ensuring long-term sustainable growth for the Group, also strengthening our commercial approach”.

The NH90 heavy-class military helicopter is a modern, multi-role aircraft designed to meet the most stringent NATO standards. Developed in two versions – tactical troop transport (TTH) and NATO frigate helicopter (NFH) – the NH90 contains a unique, fully integrated mission system for operations in the most demanding conditions over land and sea, day and night.
