China Conducts firing test of S-400 air defense missile system
- December 24, 2018
The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has conducted a successful test of S-400 air defense missile systems.
During the test, S-400 has shot down a ballistic target at a distance of 250 km and moving at a speed of 3 km/sec.
During the tests, the S-400 air defense system was used under jamming conditions to validate the performance capabilities of the missile against electronic warfare methods.
The S-400 is cutting edge Russian air defence system, capable of detecting and shooting down targets, including ballistic missiles, enemy jets and drones, at ranges up to 600 kilometres at altitudes between 10 metres and 27 kilometres. Each system can simultaneously shell 36 targets moving at speeds of up to 4,800 metres per second with 72 ground-to-air missiles.
