HMS Penzance was upgraded

Babcock International has completed the refit of the Royal Navy’s Sandown-class minehunter vessel HMS Penzance.

Under the contract, company replaced both main engines, many glass reinforced plastic repairs and addition and alteration packages.

Following the refit, HMS Penzance was put through the ready for sea inspection and then returned to her home port, HMNB Clyde, with full operational capabilities.

HMS Penzance is a Sandown Class minehunter whose role is to neutralise underwater threats and clear the sea-lanes for shipping.
