Russia’s Aerospace Force receives sixth upgraded A-50U radar surveillance aircraft

Russian Aerospace Forces has received the sixth upgraded A-50U long-range radar surveillance aircraft from Ruselectronics Group and the Beriev Aircraft Company.

“At present, our companies are working to modernize the seventh A-50 aircraft to the A-50U level. It will be handed over to the customer in 2021,” the Rostec press service cited Vyacheslav Mikheyev, Director General of the Vega Concern, as saying.

The A-50U is designated to detect, track and determine the affiliation of air, large ground and naval targets, transfer data to command posts, guide fighter jets towards air targets and frontline aircraft towards ground and sea targets.
