The Turkish Armed Forces launched launched an operation against the terrorists in Hakurk, northern Iraq on Monday.

According to a statement by Turkish National Defense Ministry, the military action began with artillery and air strikes to neutralise terrorists and destroy their shelters.

The Ministry underlined that the operation was ongoing, as planned.

Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and top generals of the Turkish Armed Forces commanded the operation throughout the night.
